Micmuss Film Entertainment is a film production and distribution company based in Pazar, Rize, a small town surrounded by the Black Sea and tea plantations in northeastern Turkey, home to the Laz People, an indigenous ethnic group of the Caucasus. The company is mainly interested in producing films experimenting with cinematic forms and developing filmmaking culture in the region by combining local talents and experienced film professionals in the filmmaking process.
The founder, Mirac Atabey (1989, Rize, Turkey) is a director, screenwriter, and producer who graduated from the Doc Nomads Master's Programme in documentary filmmaking, held in Lisbon, Budapest, and Brussels. His short film trilogy, consisting of Stove (2012), Downtown (2014), and Yard (2018), has received recognition on the film festival circuit, with the final installment premiering at the Rotterdam Film Festival. His debut feature film, A Hero of Our Time (2023), showcases a refined version of his observational visual style and interactive cinema language, characterized by uninterrupted scenes with lengthy acting performances, which won the Best First Film Award at the Bosphorus Film Festival. He was also a participant in Talents Sarajevo 2017.
The co-founder, Emre Halisdemir (1987, Rize, Turkey), is an education professional with a background in filmmaking. He has worked as an education manager, instructor trainer, project coordinator, producer, screenwriter, assistant director, and actor. He serves as an education manager in Camlihemsin, Rize, where he focuses on practical education initiatives in sustainable agriculture, local languages, filmmaking, and music. He is also an instructor trainer at the Laz Language Institute and a project coordinator at the Network of Laz and Circassian Civil Societies supported by the European Union.
The head of the production department, Yilmaz Atabey (1999, Rize, Turkey), is a production manager and actor who also works in the local tourism industry in Ayder, Rize.

Nostalgize us
Micmuss Film Entertainment carries on the legacy of Micmuss Online, which began in 2001, creating 2D video games as well as several locally known short films by Mirac Atabey in northeastern Turkey. The name Micmuss was created by combining the names of cousins Mirac and Mustafa Atabey. In 2011, it evolved into its current form, which is dedicated exclusively to cinematic works.
